Greenpark Group marked the largest donation in its history with a ceremonial sod turning at the site of a new Brampton hospital. Last year, Greenpark made a $12 million donation to William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation) to support a new hospital development to service the growing health needs of one of the country’s fastest growing cities.
The ceremony was attended by Greenpark Group founder and CEO Carlo Baldassarra as well as Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Brampton mayor Patrick Brown, Osler Foundation CEO Ken Mayhew, Osler Health System CEO Dr. Frank Martino, and several other dignitaries.
The $12 million will go directly to support the creation of the new Peel Memorial Hospital, part of the Osler Health System. Upon completion, it will feature a multi-storey patient tower, new and expanded outpatient clinics, day programs, expanded seniors care, mental health services, and addictions programs. It will also house a new, purpose-built emergency department.
“The most important place in any community is the hospital, because without health, nothing else matters,” said Carlo. “Everyone needs the hospital at some point in their life, and I am so proud that we are able to support healthcare for Brampton and the surrounding areas with this gift.”
The gift was made in special dedication to the Carangel Corporation, the philanthropic arm of Greenpark Group, named in honor of Carlo and his wife Angela of 58 years.
“This generous gift will go a long way to help ensure our world-class physicians and staff have the facilities and resources to continue delivering the compassionate, close-to-home care our vibrant community deserves,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President and CEO of William Osler Health System. “On behalf of everyone at Osler and the more than 1.3 million people who rely on us for care, we extend our deepest gratitude to Greenpark Group and the Carangel Corporation.”
For nearly 60 years, Greenpark Group has built communities where families can thrive. Through their visionary leadership, they have made significant contributions to Brampton’s residential landscape, including new home developments at Vales of the Humber, Castlemore, Valleylands, among others.
This donation marks another important moment in a legacy defined by extraordinary generosity and a deep commitment to the well-being of their communities.
